For this year August and September two months, Bayi Iron & Steel slag recycling level hit new high, up to 63 kg iron element per ton of iron recycled, which nearlyt doubled compared to the level during the same period last year. Based on Bayi Steel annual production capacity of 7,000,000 tons, 220,000 tons powdered iron can be recycled additionally every year, which is equivalent to dig out one set of small iron mine from steel slag, while recycling waste material, the emission of waste residue is greatly reduced, playing a good role in promoting environment protection

Wasted slag during steel making contains a lot of iron elements, steel slag recycling, turning waste into treasure has significant meaning for iron and steel enterprises. Bayi Steel paid much attention on slag recycling work, however the slag recycling level is not high previously, with only 32 kg iron element recycled per ton of iron. To this end, Bayi Steel made benchmark with associated units with high level of slag recycling, found distance and studied slag utilization deeply and systematically, taking measures to improve slag utilization level. Led by energy and environment protection department, Bayi Steel held regular promotion meeting, vigorously promoting and supervising this work to make continuous progress.

From this year, Bayi Steel increased control from the source, through technical innovation, raising the level of steel production operation, reducing slag generation amount to improve the utilization of slag. Bayi Steel originated desulfuration slag modification treatment process in the domestic country, taking full usage of desulfurization slags after modification which were supposed to be wasted, greatly improving the level of utilization of slag. Secondly, Bayi Steel strive to make technological breakthrough processing on slag processing technology research, giving full play to the characteristics of processing equipment, increasing magnetic line, adjusting the process parameters, strengthening professional management, to improve production work ratio, greatly improving the utilization of slag. Meanwhile, Bayi Steel organized specialized personnels to make manual pick-up on those discharged waste steel slag so as to be able to fully recycle the slag which can be taken advantage. In addition, Bayi Steel reinforced gate management, making rigorous checks on out-shipped slag, which can be taken advantage shall not be released out of the plant.

Since the end of last year, Bayi Steel slag recycling by manual picking up reached 4,614 tons, operating rate of steel slag processing production line has increased by 52% compared with the previous level, the additional recycled iron element reduced the cost per ton of iron by 6 RMB.
